If you saw my Sephora VIB Rouge Haul post, you’ll recognize the NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette ($75). I’ve been kicking myself ever since I missed the boat on last year’s NARS x Guy Bourdin One Night Stand Blush Palette, so I definitely wasn’t going to miss this one.
I have a love/hate relationship with this palette. Nothing in it qualifies as one of my favourite products, but it’s just so versatile and handy that I can’t stop using it!
There are three blushes (Deep Throat, Sex Fantasy and Final Cut), one highlighter (Miss Liberty) and a bronzer (the infamous Laguna).
Deep Throat is my favourite blush shade in the palette. Oddly, I had never tried Deep Throat before, I’m more of an Orgasm girl, but it’s a lovely and flattering shimmery coral shade. Final cut is coral as well, but it’s definitely more on the orange side of coral and doesn’t have any shimmer in it.
Probably my least favourite shade is Sex Fantasy, a matte bubble gum pink colour. I like the way it looks in the palette but for some reason the colour really doesn’t show up at all on my light/medium skin tone – kind of a shame.
The highlighter also isn’t totally my style. It’s more of a glittery highlighter than a shimmery or iridescent highlighter (yes, in my mind there is a difference). It’s fine – just not my personal preference.
The Laguna bronzer is always an old faithful for me. It works like a charm in the summer and winter, just a great matte bronzer.
The packaging is great, the white top looks amazing and I like that it’s not in the usual black, matte NARS packaging - we all know those things look disgusting when they are covered in makeup after a few weeks.
Overall, this this is great for convenience, I’ve used it everyday since I got it, but if you have a substantial amount of individual NARS products and you’re not all about the convenience factor, I would pass on this one. If you travel a lot I would recommend checking this out, but definitely head to Sephora and swatch everything before you drop the dough.
