#FOTD - Current Work Face

I’ve been at my “new” job for a month and a half now and being on the work grind has changed my daily makeup priorities a little bit. Firstly, whatever I put on my face needs to stay on for the whole day; I don’t want to look like a zombie at 5:00pm. Secondly, I like to have that “naturally flawless” look when I go to work, so no bold red lips for me. Lastly, it needs to be comfortable, no thick and drying lipsticks or heavy foundations.

I’m not going to bore you with the details on products that I have written full reviews for in the past, but I will briefly mention them. For my base I am currently using the Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation in Alabaster and the Clé de Peau Concealer in Ocher. For bronzer (light contouring), highlighter and blush I’ve been bringing out my NARS Virtual Domination Palette (Laguna bronzer, Miss Liberty highlighter, Deep Throat blush) because it is just the fastest, easiest, most convenient thing in the morning that gives me a healthy glow.

My go-to eyeshadow product when I’m working is the Smashbox Limitless 15 Hour Wear Cream Shadow in Gemstone. I instantly fell in love with Gemstone's the gorgeous, iridescent grey/mauve colour. This cream shadow is quite pigmented and blends very nicely on the lids. I've actually worn this for 15 hours and it does fade a bit past the 8-hour mark, but there is still a decent amount of product on my eyelids after 15 hours.

To go along with the cream shadow, I also use the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Double Ended Eye Pencil in Venus/Crave. The light colour, Venus, is great for the waterline but Crave, the dark colour, is really the winner for me. It’s a very, very dark brown that is close enough to black to add some great definition but far enough from black to make the line a bit less harsh. I love the Urban Decay pencils, they are just so creamy and easy to smudge but they also last all day and night, until I take the product off with makeup remover.

Another eye product I use is the Benefit They’re Real! Mascara. I have had so many samples of these throughout the years and I have always liked it, but never enough to go out of my way to use it. Now that my mascara goes on at 7:00am and stays on until 9:00 or 10:00pm some days, I need something that’s going to last and not end up all over my face. This mascara definitely does the job; the plastic bristles give a good amount of separation and volume, and the product stays on my lashes (not under my eyes) for the whole day.

For lips, I’ve been sporting the lovely YSL Volupte Sheer Candy Glossy Balm Crystal Color in 04 Succulent Pomegranate. This is great because it’s extremely hydrating on the lips, perfect for the cold weather, but it still gives off a great pop of colour. The lovely, semi-bright, blue undertone pink really helps make me look alive at work. I know I said at the beginning of this post that my workday makeup has to have lasting power, this is the exception. Although it only lasts for 3-4 hours or so, I have absolutely no problem reapplying a lip product throughout the day, especially with the amount of coffee I drink.
