Last night I went to the Sephora VIB Rouge Holiday event at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. The event was jam packed with drinks, treats, makeovers, facials, free samples and most importantly – 20% off all purchases!! Of course, I couldn’t help myself and I managed to do a bit of damage at the store. I haven’t tried most of these products before (two of which are for my mom) but I thought I would let you guys know what caught my eye at Sephora, in no particular order.
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Berry ($26): I have minis of the Tulip shade in every single purse I own but I’ve been eying this darker, Berry shade for a while now. The Fresh tinted lip treatments are great, extremely moisturizing and they leave a lovely wash of colour on the lips. I know I’ll be wearing this often in the winter months.
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair ($72): This product is for my mom but it’s definitely I cult classic. I’ve only heard good things about it and my mom is an oil/serum junkie, so this is right up her alley. I anticipate a rave review from my mom coming soon.
Phyto Phytovolume Actif ($30): Ever since I tried that Phytokeratine Serum I have been obsessed with Phyto products. I am long overdue for a haircut so my long, heavy hair definitely needs every bit of volume it can get. This volumizing spray looks like it’s a great way to add volume without weighing down my fine hair.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette ($67): I’m not going to bore all of you with how much I love my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat but I am shocked that I lasted this long without buying this palette. It’s been tempting me for months and I finally gave into temptation and bought it. Needless to say, I am a happy girl.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Turn On ($24): All the credit for this one goes to one of my favourite beauty bloggers and fellow Canadian Estée aka Essie Button. I read her blog post on this lip pencil and watched her rave about it in her October Favourites, instantly making me feel the need to get that gorgeous colour on my lips.
REN ClearCalm 3 Replenishing Gel Cream ($36): I first got a sample of this back in March when my skin was particularly aggravated. I thought it did a really great job at calming my skin, particularly overnight, so when I ran out of night cream a couple days ago the REN cream when to the top of my shopping list. It’s great for calming blemish prone skin, including redness and scarring.
Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con No. 7 Plush Shadow in The Parisienne ($71): I have definitely been pining for a Marc Jacobs palette for a while but surprisingly these aren’t my usual colours. As I walked through Sephora, some kind of uncontrollable force drew me to this palette - I couldn’t leave without it! The packaging is absolutely gorgeous and at first swatch I can tell that the shadows are extremely pigmented and creamy in texture. Looks like a winner to me!
Algenist Advanced Anti-Aging Repairing Oil ($99): This one is also for my mom. I got her a sample of this over a month ago and she hasn’t stopped talking about it since. She LOVES this oil and I know if she loves it this much then it must be amazing.
Bumble and bumble Make It Big Set ($32.75): This gift set has a full size Thickening Hairspray and a travel size Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner. I used to use the hairspray all the time and I’ve recently started thinking about reintroducing it into my hair care routine. The spray is great; it adds a great amount of body and fullness to my fine hair but doesn’t weigh it down at all. I’ve only every tried the shampoo and conditioner at the hair salon but I’m excited to have my own travel sized bottles.
NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette ($75): I’ve had my eye on this palette since it first popped up on the “What’s New” section of the Sephora website. It has three blushes (Sex Fantasy, Deep Throat, Final Cut), a highlighter (Miss Liberty) and a bronzer (Laguna). I currently don’t have any of these individually, which is always great, and the packaging is just gorgeous.
YSL Volupté Sheer Candy Glossy Balm Crystal Color in 4 Succulent Pomegranate ($39): I bought shade 16 Cherise Desir a while ago and I have been obsessing over its formulation from the first swipe over my lips. These are incredibly soft and moisturizing on the lips but the colour pigmentation isn’t compromised at all. Succulent Pomegranate looks like a great sheer pink that will be great for daily wear.
In terms of free samples, I got a mini Benefit They’re Real! Push-Up Liner, Dior Addict Fluid Stick samples, and YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush samples. I also got loads of fragrance samples including Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream, Chloe Eau de Parfum and Balenciaga Paris Eau de Parfum. Every purchase also came with a Sephora tote bag and a cute Shashi bracelet.
If that isn’t enough, I also got the Urban Decay Urban Obsession kit with my Sephora points! This kit has four lovely eyeshadows, a 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero and a sample of the Eyeshadow Primer Potion – amazing!
Overall, it was a lovely event. The staff at Sephora was amazingly helpful and super friendly. If you’re a VIB Rouge member remember you get 20% off all your orders in store and online until Monday…so get shopping!
