Hair Rescue - Phyto Phytokératine Repairing Serum

Hair Rescue - Phyto Phytokératine Repairing Serum

To be honest, this is a product that I really did not want to like.  At $39 for 30ml, the Phyto Phytokératine Repairing Serum is definitely a pricey bit of hair care. After using it for about four months now, I have to say that it has made my hair look noticeably healthier – very important since I have not cut my hair in over 10 months and I use a blow drier almost everyday.

I first got a sample of this from the Shoppers Drug Mart at the Eaton Centre (FYI that particular Shoppers has an amazing beauty section with luxury brands like Chanel and Guerlain). I tried the sample, liked it, and hesitantly cashed in my Optimum points for this little bottle of joy. I know Phyto products have a great reputation but before this sample, I had never tried anything from the brand. I am usually a Pantene, Bumble and bumble or Aveda girl.

This serum claims to repair damaged ends by filling in the gaps of the outer layer of hair, leaving your hair so smooth that it feels like a new hair cut. I wouldn’t go so far to say that when I use this serum it feels like I just got my hair cut, but the ends of my hair definitely go from incredibly dry to healthy and shiny.

The serum is a very light cream, almost a gel texture, and smells a bit like coconut. It’s not heavy at all and doesn’t leave any residue on the hair. I usually blow dry my hair after washing it so it is mostly dry, but still a bit damp. Then I take about one and a half pumps of the serum and run it through the ends of my hair before finishing my blow dry. It transforms my dull and extremely dry ends into soft and smooth pieces of hair, basically making it as healthy as the hair near the top of my head. My hair has definitely become healthier, smoother and shinier since I’ve started using this product. People can’t believe that it’s been almost a year since I’ve cut my hair.

If you suffer from dry hair and/or split ends this is definitely worth trying out. I think this product alone is what has allowed me to go without a hair cut for so long – so maybe it is worth the money in the long run!
