The YSL Volupté Tin-In-Oil ($35) is a product that definitely intrigued me. A hydrating oil lip colour? I had to give it a try.
I bought shade 5 Cherry My Chérie, a bright pink colour. I have to say, this really does a good job at providing a stain on your lips. When I first applied it, the colour was very sheer and my lips just felt very fluid and oily, which wasn’t particularly comfortable to be honest. Once the liquid in absorbed on my lips, it left a pigmented pink colour, which did last for a good 4-5 hours or so.
The second you open the tube you can’t help but notice the wonky wand. The diamond shaped applicator has a bend in it, which is supposed to provide a more precise application. The bend gives you the ability to really hug your lips when you’re apply the product and the pointed tip lets you get a precise application in the corners and cupids bow.
It also has what I call the YSL watermelon candy scent, which I personally enjoy, but if you’re not into sweet scents I would probably stay away.
My biggest complaint with this product is that I really find it uncomfortable when I first apply it; I have a bit of an issue with how slimy my lips feel (I am quite sensitive with things like that though). I found that I really had to wait for it to absorb into my lips before I was comfortable. That being said, it did do a decent job at hydrating my lips. As the oil got more and more absorbed, I could definitely feel my lips getting more and more hydrated.
If you want the colour of a lip stain but the glossiness of a lip gloss, this is definitely worth checking out but I would recommended trying it in the store to test your comfort level with the oil on your lips.
Have you tried the YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil? What do you think?
