Best of Beauty 2014 – Best Products of 2014 Part 2

To finish off my Best of Beauty 2014 posts, here is Part 2 of my 2014 Best Beauty Products. Don’t forget to check out yesterday’s Part 1 post!

Best Eyeshadow Palette:
Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette Colour Coded Eye Shadow in The Vintage Vamp ($52)
This is more of an Autumn/Winter palette but I am totally obsessed with it! The formula of these shadows is great, so rich and creamy, and they have amazing lasting power. You can get a full vamp eye with all four shades or a more daytime appropriate look only using a couple colours.

Best Eyeliner: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil ($24)
These are just a good pencils that stay on all day but are still very blendable. They also come in a huge range of colours, so there are definitely a few pencils for everyone to love. Personally, I love Demolition and Crave (available as a double ended crayon).

Best Red Lip: Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso ($29)
I got this as a sample from Sephora and I really enjoyed it! This gorgeous, true red applies effortlessly and evenly and lasts through my messiest meals. I don’t wear a red lip too often but when I did in 2014, it was always Beso.

Best Berry Lip: Tom Ford Bruised Plum ($55)
I love this lipstick so much that I a) actually waited on a waiting list for it and b) I bought TWO! It’s the perfect purple/red berry lip that’s really pigmented with a great semi-matte finish. Apply one light swipe for a less dramatic berry look or really build it up for a great vamp lip.

Best Coral Lip: Marc Jacobs Beauty Kiss Pop Lip Color Stick in Heartbreaker 602 ($35)
This is a fantastic, matte coral lip colour that’s not too drying and has great pigmentation. This awesome pop of colour also comes in the most amazing packaging that looks so chic - no wonder it was a September Favourite!

Best Pink Lip: Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Crayon in Fuchsia Ristic ($16)
This has quite a sheer, gloss-like finish but quickly became my favourite everyday pink in 2014. It’s so comfortable and hydrating but still adds a great pop of bright pink colour. I definitely don’t mind reapply this once or twice throughout the day.

Best Nude Lip: MAC Lipstick in Patisserie
I decided to try this in 2014 because Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup recommended it (as you can probably tell, I think she’s awesome!). I’m usually not a nude lip girl but I’ve actually really enjoyed this one because it’s a tad on the pink side so it doesn’t suck all the life out of my face when I put it on. To date, it’s the only nude I’ve ever actually stuck with.

Best Drug Store Lip: Covergirl LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in Ruby Twist ($8)
I tried quite a few drugstore lip products in 2014 and this was definitely my favourite. The formula of these is really moisturizing, very pigmented and lasts for quite a few hours. The Ruby Twist shade is a great, light red that was my go-to lip all summer. Drug store or not, it’s a great lip product that’s better than a lot of expensive alternatives.

Best Lip Gloss: Tanya Burr Lip Glosses (£7/$13 CND)
I’m usually not a lip gloss girl but Tanya Burr’s glosses are super pigmented, apply incredibly evenly and have a lovely sweet scent. They’re just slightly sticky but not uncomfortable – I think these glosses have converted me to a gloss lover! Currently, I’m really digging the newest shades, particularly Aphrodite (a lovely coral).

Best Dry Shampoo:
Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ($22 for 75ml/$42 for 300ml)
I’ve talked about this multiple times on this blog so I think it’s pretty clear that I love this product. It’s like instant volume in a spray and completely transforms flat, greasy hair. I know it’s expensive but it’s definitely worth trying out.

Best Hair Care Product: Phyto Phytokératine Repairing Serum ($39)
If you have dry ends and/or you’re trying to buy some time until you get your hair cut, this is the perfect product for you. Just once pump of this on the ends of my hair instantly makes it look healthier, more hydrated and adds shine.

Best Fragrance:
Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black ($26 for 0.34 oz Rollerball/$66 for 1 oz/$99 for 1.7 oz)
This is just a lovely, dark scent. It’s not overly sweet but it’s not too musky either, it’s just a perfect, sophisticated fragrance. It’s one of those “I just can’t stop smelling myself” scents.
