Monthly Favourites – January 2015

The first month of 2015 is complete and I feel like it absolutely flew by. January’s Favourites includes some new products, the resurrection of an old product and a fun accessory to top it all off.

Tom Ford Lips & Boys Lipstick in Didier: I was buying a lipstick for a friend’s birthday gift when these adorable little lipsticks caught my eye. I have to say, little lipsticks are ideal for me because it is very rare that I actually get through an entire tube. Cuteness aside, I absolutely love the colour. I like to describe it as an even more wearable Bruised Plum, in the sense that it’s lighter (less vampy) and more red-y pink. I wore this lipstick constantly in January; it’s just a perfect plum that is great for both day and night looks. The formula is also spot on (like other Tom Ford lipsticks), very comfortable on the lips, not drying at all and has good lasting power.

Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne: I am absolutely addicted to this scent – I literally can’t stop smelling it. I got it as a Christmas gift from my parents and I have been wearing it everyday since. It’s a fresh scent but still quite warm, not floral and not sweet. This is also great it you want to wear a fragrance but you’re often around people who are sensitive to scents because it’s quite light, not at all severe. I absolutely love it!

Anna Sui Hair Band: This was also a Christmas gift from my parents. I honestly didn’t think I would wear this but it’s the first thing I put on when get home. The big bow looks absolutely adorable and it does a great job at keeping all my hair back when I’m apply a face mask, removing my makeup or when I just can’t deal with my hair in my face – I’m even wearing it right now as I’m writing this post!

Maybelline Pumped Up Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara: I reviewed this product when I did a Maybelline mascara haul and I haven’t put it down since. It has a big, fat wand applicator that does a great job a separating my lashes and adding volume right from the root. Now that the product is nearing its end and is getting a bit dry, I have noticed some slight flaking after a few hours but nothing too bothersome.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar H: I first used this when I was 14 or so and I have used it several times since. Around July I moved on and tried moisturizers from a couple other brands but I have to say, nothing has stood up to this one so far. It’s a cream moisturizer that’s perfecting hydrating for the drier spots on my face but doesn’t make the oily bits look greasy/shiny. The Effaclar range is meant for oily skin types and this particular product it meant to sooth oily skin that has been weakened by drying skincare products. This soothes any irritation on my skin instantly and is definitely my perfect moisturizer.

Bite Beauty Smashed Agave Lip Mask: When I wasn’t wearing the Top Ford lipstick in January, I was sporting this lovely lip product. I initially bought the Champagne Lip Mask a few months ago, I loved the formula but I really wanted something with a bit of colour that I could wear out. It’s about a 30-minute walk to work everyday and with the cold weather, my lips were horribly dry and comfortable by the time I got there. This is great because it’s a thick and incredibly hydrating formula that leaves a sheer pinky red colour on the lips, so now I can have plump, moisturized lips and a pop of colour when I get to work.
