As much as I was incredibly excited to try out a new product from such a legendary makeup artist, I have to say that I was also really excited to get my hands on the Pat McGrath Labs Lust 004 Lipstick ($30) so I could play with the sequins – always a child at heart. Aside from the amazing packaging, I absolutely love the quality of this lipstick!
Pat McGrath is one of the most prolific makeup artists from the UK who has worked with incredible designers including Prada, Louis Vitton and Dolce and Gabbana. She has also been the global creative-design director for Proctor and Gamble for over a decade now. On top of all of those accomplishments, she has launched a selection of limited-edition products/kits this year under the Pat McGrath Labs label, garnering attention for its sequins filled packaging, vinyl gloss, metallic pigment and glitter.
Although the kits and incredibly innovative and interesting, I wanted to see how the plain lipstick holds up – because that’s probably what I would get the most use out of.
I have to say, the formula of this lipstick is fantastic. It is incredibly pigmented, with only one swipe on the lips required to get an even, opaque colour. I have the shade Flesh 2, a deep matte mauve colour. The matte formula feel incredibly comfortable on the lips – it feels so comfortable and creamy but definitely has a matte finish. It also stays on the lips for a good amount of time, no need to reapply after your first coffee once it sets.
I’m also a huge fan of the applicator. It’s quite a skinny stick with a tapered end that makes it incredibly easy to precisely apply colour to the cupid’s bow and edges of the lips.
Aside from the gloss, pigment and glitter in the kits, which I’m incredibly tempted to pick up now, the lipstick alone is still a great product and in my opinion, worth the price tag.
