I admit that my drugstore foundation game is not on point. It is definitely a void in my collection that I am trying to correct, starting with the Bourjois Air Mat Foundation ($29).
I first heard about this on Fleur De Force’s YouTube channel. I really like the Bourjois Healthy Balance Unifying Powder so I thought I would give this foundation a go – especially after getting Fleur’s seal of approval.
Firstly, do not think of this as a “matte” foundation. I wouldn’t say it’s particularly dewy but it’s definitely not totally matte.
This foundation has quite a thick consistency but doesn't feel heavy and blends out very evenly on the skin, leaving a medium coverage that can be built up to full coverage.
I do find that the more I apply, the more it clings to any uneven textures on my skin, so I would recommend a light application of this. Generally, I always think that you should try out foundations before you buy them but if you have extremely dry skin, try wearing this for the day before you purchase it because it may enhance those dry spots.
The packaging says this foundation lasts for 24 hours, but I'm sure most of you know that's just a gimmick. I would say that this lasts on my skin for around 7 hours before it starts getting patchy (no primer but with powder). Once it starts to fade, it looks quite uneven but until then, it creates a lovely next-to-perfect complexion that covers redness and blemishes.
Overall, this is a solid foundation. Just be aware of how long it lasts on your skin and how long you need it to last to avoid fading/patchiness.
Have you tried this foundation? What did you think?
