Monthly Favourites – April 2016

I feel like I had a lot of products I wanted to talk about this month but I didn't want to spoil some of the longer feature posts I'm planning, so here is the curated shortlist of the things I really loved in April. Stay tuned from some more thorough reviews of new products coming up in the next few weeks.

NUDESTIX Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil in Purity ($28): I first tried these in March but love the formula so much that I had to pick up another shade in April. If you’re into that matte, dark-nude trend then you have to check out Purity. This neutral, deep dusty rose shade is super a great intro into that 90s nude/brown lip trend. The formula is very smooth, applies evenly and doesn’t crack off your lips (full review of the matte pencils here). Handbag staple in April and beyond for sure.

Clarins Eye Contour Gel ($38): I feel like I’m always on the hunt for the perfect eye cream. I have very dark circles, my under eye area is usually on the dry side and my eyes look quite puffy in the morning – the trifecta of issues. This Clarins gel feels very light on the skin but actually provides a good amount of hydration. It think it’s a bit too early to tell if it’s really making a difference on my dark circles but it has helped with puffiness, and my eye area looks less creased. It’s also quite an affordable eye gel, which is just a bonus!

Essie Nail Polish in Take It Outside ($11): Like clockwork, spring comes around and the mauve-taupe-grey nail polish shades come out of retirement. For most of April I gravitated straight to Take It Outside for make weekly nail fix. A light taupe, this is a great neutral shade that compliments a lot of different looks.

Topshop MOTO Ripped Hayden Cuffed Jeans ($90): I rarely include a fashion favourite in these monthly posts but I have to say that these jeans are soooo comfortable - I want to wear them everyday. I’m a total jean junkie and I think that Topshop makes some of the best jeans in the sub-$100 price point. They’re a thicker material, which I like for a ripped jean, but quite loose on the leg and tapered at the bottom. Very flattering with a lot of different shoe style – I’ve been wearing them with my sneakers and booties quite a bit.
