If you follow me on Instagram you saw that I visited the recently opened Deciem store on Queen Street West for the first time last month. One of the products I picked up was the Hylamide Sensitive Fix Booster ($20) and as the lovely employee at the store told me, I should be able to see results around the two-week mark - so it’s time for a review.
Known as The Abnormal Beauty Company, Deciem is a Canadian beauty company that operates 10 different brands, producing products ranging from hand cream and skincare to beauty supplements and hair products. Since 2013 Deciem has been one of the most innovative, interesting and fast-growing brands in the space.
At a very reasonable price point, I was extremely excited to try out one of the Hylamide serums, which have become highly regarded products in the UK at Boots. The Sensitive Fix Booster is a targeted serum to reduce signs of irritation and redness on sensitive skin. Sensitive Fix contains a patented marvel of peru and golden-eye grass complex to target signs of sensitivity, reduce appearance of redness and balance skin pH imbalance in the immediate and short term to reduce the feeling of sensitivity.
After speaking to the lovely Deciem employees at the store, I thought this serum would be great for me as my skin had been quite red and irritated due to prescription blemish cream with benzoyl peroxide and adapalene. I also test quite a few skincare products for this blog (and my own enjoyment), which can intensify my sensitivity.
This serum has been the perfect prep product for my skin. The thick, translucent serum sinks into my skin quickly and instantly settles any and all irritation on my skin. I can already see that there has been a significant reduction in the redness on my chin. Due to this product and a few other stand-out skincare products in my current rotation, my complexion has been very clear and calm but I anticipate that I will want to douse my skin in this booster when it's particularly irritated and/or spotty.
I really think that this Sensitive Fix Booster would be great for all skin types. On my skin, it has been extremely effective for sensitivity and irritation, and produced visible results quickly – I know that sounds like the claims on the back of a lot of products, but it really does happen with the Hylamide Sensitive Fix Booster.
I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of the Deciem company and I can't wait to try more products!
