Sometimes you stumble across products that you meant to pick up ages ago but totally forgot about. That’s the case with the Burberry Cashmere Fluid Foundation ($60). After coming across it again during my regular beauty researching (aka shopping), I decided to pick it up.
This foundation is meant to have a medium-to-high coverage that’s still lightweight and leaves a matte finish. It’s oil-free and comes is a lovely rectangular glass bottle, which is not particularly travel friendly but the actual pump locks so it doesn’t leak at all (very smart Burberry).
I would be really surprised if someone was able to get a high coverage finish out of this foundation. It is definitely a buildable formula, starting at quite a light coverage and building up to what I would say is more of a true medium coverage - you can still see a bit of redness or discoloration peaking through after multiple layers.
This feels really great on the skin – it is very light weight event after two layers. The finish is fairly matte but I would describe it as more semi-matte because there is abit of a natural radiance, which I actually prefer. It applies flawlessly with a BeautyBlender but I do find that I need to use the largest amount of product with this method. My favourite way to apply this foundation is starting with my fingers and then bopping a BeautyBlender on my face to ensure that I've achieved a completely even base.
This foundation also has great lasting time. Without a primer it lasts on my skin for about six hours before it starts to breakdown a bit – particularly in my t-zone. If you have dry skin, I would test this out before purchasing because I found that it did cling to a few drier spots on my skin.
This will continue to be my foundation for events/nights out when I want a bit more coverage than my daily light base. An expensive foundation but it feels great on the skin and has been incredibly reliable.
