I love taking my time with my eye makeup, slowly layering colours and blending until I have eyelid perfection. That’s all fine and dandy but lets face it, most of the time I apply my eye makeup half asleep and already running late for a meeting. The Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in Lots o’ Latte ($19) has quickly become my go-to easy eye makeup grab.
I really like stick eyeshadows as a concept; I find them incredibly easy to apply, portable and easy to apply on the go.
The packaging of the Clinique Chubby Stick is simple, nothing overly exciting about the look of these. It’s quite a small but fat tube that has round edges and a twistable bottom to twist up the product.
Lots o’ Latte is a light, taupe colour. The creamy formula applies quite lightly on my lids, not particularly pigmented (keep in mind, that may have to do with the fact that I picked up a fairly light colour), but can be built up to a deeper taupe colour with a few swipes back and forth. After perfecting my application method I can say that I am satisfied with the colour payoff of the Chubby Stick.
I apply the product all over my eyelid and slightly blend it out with a brush. I'm left with a lovely wash of iridescent colour every time. To be honest, I often skip the blending step and it still looks great. I know some people have complained that the product creased on them, but I didn’t find that to be a problem at all. Whenever I use the Cubby Stick it looks like I put a lot more work into my eye makeup than I really did (always a great thing).
I found that the colour lasts on my eyelids lasts for about 6 hours or so, not too shabby, and it’s very easy to reapply a little bit of product around the 6 hours mark (even if I’m on the go).
Overall, I think this is a great product to have in your collection, especially for days when you don’t have a lot of time to do your makeup or when you’re traveling. I definitely want to see how pigmented some of the darker colours are but I think this is a no-fail eyeshadow stick that won’t let you down on your most rushed and tired days.
