Monthly Favourites - July 2014

Some of my favorite blogs and vlogs to read/watch are monthly favorites and I have been dying to do my own. Every month I will do a post on my fav products, mostly beauty, but I might add the occasional miscellaneous favorite now and again. Here it is!

CoverGirl LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in 245 Ruby Twist: If you follow me on Instagram and Twitter, you've seen me post a picture of this as my favorite drugstore product. I actually got this in a Luxe Box a little while ago and I just started using it last month (too many lip products, so little time). The formulation is really what hooked me, it contains shea and mango butters so it's extremely creamy and smooth. With one light swipe over my lips I get a lighter, daytime red but I can easily build it up to a true bright red lip – very versatile! It has quickly become a handbag staple and I can’t wait to get my hands on a few more shades (I have my eye on 235 Coral Twist and 215 Watermelon Twist).

Diorshow Fusion Mono Matte eyeshadow in 641 Fantaisie: The first time I saw this product was when a makeup artist at the Dior counter in Hudson’s Bay used it on my mom; I instantly wanted to try it out for myself. This shadow has a light and creamy texture in the pot but leaves your lids with a velvety powder finish. Almost every day in July I was applying Fantaisie all over my eyelids, with my finger, and then blending dark or shimmery powder eyeshadows on top to add some dimension. I have oily eyelids and for some reason I still can’t seem to stick with a primer. I found that using this shadow helps my eye makeup stay on longer and creates the perfect light base colour to start my eye look – thumbs up from me! I loved the formulation of this shadow so much that I also bought 761 Mirage.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat: As you might be able to tell from the name of my blog, I am a HUGE blush girl! The reason I love blush so much is because I have incredibly prominent cheekbones, you can see these things coming from a mile away, so it’s really important for my cheeks to be on point. After trying countless blush formulations from both drugstore and luxury brands I have to say, this is the best blush I have ever used. The Hourglass blush gives my cheeks the most amazing glow with the perfect amount of shimmer that highlights my cheeks without being too glittery. The formulation is quite pigmented and the shade Diffused Heat is pretty bright so just a light dusting of the blush over my cheeks does the job. Day and night, this blush was on my cheeks every second of every day last month.

Let me know what products you were loving in July!
